South Beach Diet

This is a very popular diet even among Hollywood stars and it’s probably one of the things that made it even more popular.

It promises a weight loss of 8-13 pounds in the first 2 weeks of the diet program. To reach this weight loss goal, you need to avoid processed carbs such as the ones found in white bread mostly, baked goods, snacks or soft drinks.

The diet consists of 3 phases and does not rely on any physical exercises.

Phase 1 lasts 14 days being the strictest of them all. Vegetables, cheese  and eggs are allowed along with lean protein in normal portions spread in 3 meals per day. This should eliminate the hunger sensation associated with diets most of the types. No fruit, rice, potatoes, pasta, sugar, alcohol, fast food or bread and baked goods  are allowed.

Phase 2  lasts until dieters reach their weight-loss goal, and reintroduces some foods that were banned in Phase One, such as whole-grain breads and dairy foods. Phase Three is all about maintenance, and is less a phase than a "way of life."

Probably the fest “feature” of this diet is it’s flexibility: you can have snacks if you want or even eat out. Chicken, turkey or fish are allowed and actually recommended in order to compensate for the missing carbs, along with nuts, milk, cheese or  yogurt.

It is estimated to be in the top 5 most popular diets in the United States. Studies show that more than %40 of people that participated showed considerable weight losses of an average of 13.6 pounds. There has also been noted an increase in good cholesterol while the bad cholesterol levels went down.

Once completed the 2 phases, you will need to maintain roughly the same rules and not exaggerate on carb consumption.
